Yet another noteworthy move, this time about former Holy Trinity and alumnus, Gino Tassone. I have learned that Mr. Tassone is joining the staff at Kennedy Catholic College Preparatory School. He joins his brother, Dominick Tassone, who is the current Head Coach and Athletic Director at Kennedy Catholic.

Gino will be joining the staff as Assistant Head Coach. Never one to abandon his players, Coach G. Tassone brings a group of his former Holy Trinity players and a coach, listed below:

• Dominick Tassone, QB
• Patrick Bodkin, C/DL
• Noah St. Hill, OL/DL
• Ja’Sean Grafton, WR/CB
• Coach Rob Jannelli, Defensive Backs

Kennedy Catholic joined the NYCHSFL in 2013, previously being part of the NYSPHSAA in Section 1 Class B. Coach D. Tassone has been head coach of the Kennedy Catholic football team since 2016. Being a much smaller school, in the midst of a football powerhouse (Somers), Kennedy has been resilient under Coach D. Tassone, eventually reaching the peak of the ‘AA-II/A’ in 2018 and 2019, going to two straight titles, and winning one in 2019.

What does this mean for the 2026 season? While Holy Cross is the favorite this year, the addition of Coach G. Tassone, Coach Jannelli, two members NYCHSFL Board of Governors , and these players put the Gaels of Somers in an interesting position in the ‘AA-II.’ With Xaverian leaving for the ‘AA-I’, and Christ the King going through a coaching change, I would watch for Kennedy to make a run at a championship this year.
